Full-time Fixed Term Position,

Schedule: Flexible (including evenings and weekends) Reporting to: Director of Health

Salary Range:                 $48,750-53,625 annually

Summary of Position:

Neskonlith is seeking a Youth Coordinator to oversee recreation and youth activities. The Youth Coordinator will oversee the development, coordination, planning and evaluation of recreation and youth activities that target out Neskonlith Youth. The Youth position celebrates our youth and promotes self-esteem and self determination by being a positive role model to our Neskonlith youth.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Develop strong rapport and build trusting relationships with Neskonlith Youth,
  • Visit with the youth and the families, and in other community
  • Visit Youth to provide emotional support and assist with communication between youth, families and the Neskonlith Health department.
  • Encourage Youth to connect socially in the community and/or participation in activities and events,
  • Support in developing and coordinating various activities for Neskonlith Youth, prepare monthly
  • Ensure that traditional and cultural health and wellness approaches are incorporated into programming,
  • Collaborate with the Health department to develop new program and services/activities and deliver jointly and involved in community events,
  • Provide insight and support in the development of protocols and agreements with internal and external
  • Connect youth with community resources to promote social skills development and reduce isolation,
  • Provide training and workshop opportunities on personal health, employability, and parenting,

Qualification:

  • Grade 12 academic with successful completion of at least two years post-secondary in the field of Social Worker or Youth Care Diploma, or course work in the field of Community Support Worker, or Human Service, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work/life experience in a First Nations’ environment.
  • Work experience, 1-3 years working with youth in one or more of the following areas: Culture, language, education, life skill coaching, employment readiness, student assessment,
  • Valid First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain,
  • Poses and maintains a valid class 5 BC Driver’s License, reliable, appropriately insured vehicle,
  • Must successfully pass the required pre-employment Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
