Position Title: Responsible Adult (Child Care)

Reporting to: Daycare Manager
Status: Part-time: Mondays & Tuesdays, 8:30 AM–3:30 PM; potential to expand to more days/hours and a near full-time role for the right candidate
Wage: Hourly; commensurate with experience ($20 – $23hour)
Location: Sk’atsin Child Care Centre – Chase, BC
Start Date: ASAP

Job Summary

Sk’atsin Child Care Centre is seeking a caring, reliable Responsible Adult to support our early learning team. Under the guidance of certified educators, the Responsible Adult helps with daily routines, children’s engagement, set-up/clean-up, and a safe, welcoming environment rooted in cultural respect and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

• Support children during play, routines, transitions, and outdoor time under the direction of ECE staff
• Assist with set-up and tidy-up of learning areas, materials, and activities
• Encourage self-help skills (handwashing, dressing for outdoors, tidying)
• Help with snacks/lunch (handing out food, wiping tables, basic clean-up)
• Follow health & safety routines, including cleaning/sanitizing toys/materials
• Model positive guidance, inclusion, and culturally safe practices
• Communicate with the team and follow centre policies and procedures

Qualifications (Responsible Adult – BC)

• Minimum 19 years of age
• Responsible Adult training (20 hours) or equivalent coursework/experience in child development, guidance, and health/safety/nutrition
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector (required prior to start)
• Experience working/volunteering with children 0–5 is an asset
• First Aid/CPR (Child Care level) preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Reliable, warm, and team-oriented; able to work outdoors in all weather and lift up to ~30 lbs

Assets

• Familiarity with Secwépemc/Indigenous ways of knowing and community
• FoodSafe I, additional childcare workshops, or language skills
