Neskonlith Indian Band Education Department is looking for one Summer Student Worker to join their team. Working under the direction of the Education Manager, the Summer Student Worker will be supporting the Education team with a variety of tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Neskonlith Indian Band policies and procedures
  • Assist with answering inquiries regarding education programs
  • Provides information and registration forms to Neskonlith Indian Band members
  • Assists with the coordination and scheduling of programs, events and services, g. Summer Student Program, Reading N Recreation Program, and Career Fairs
  • Maintains and ensures accurate files and records for all education activities & programs
  • Assists in the development of educational plans for students
  • Provides information for parents and K-12 students about alternative education
  • Assists with the coordination of supports for special needs students, g. lunch program, tutoring, behavioural supports, etc.
  • Collaborates with other departments within NIB to deliver services and programs
  • Performs other related duties as

  • Basic computer skills & organizational skills
  • Punctuality and reliability are mandatory
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands & priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to speak & write clearly
  • Conflict resolution & presentation skills, ability to work under pressure
  • Works cooperatively with others, inside & outside organization
  • Ability to communicate in clear & concise manner

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Those normally associated with a typical office environment. Continuous visual concentration on computer/laptop.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Most of the work duties will be performed in a typical office environment.

EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE

Equipment: Desk top computer, Laptop, Photo copier, Printer Software: Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Eligible participants must be of Indigenous ancestry
  • Must have a Social Insurance Number and be at least 15 years of age
  • Must meet ASETS criteria for referral (Referral required before interview)
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance, with results acceptable to NIB, may be required (provided at no cost to the individual)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Fixed term position 8 weeks: July 7, 2025 to August 29, 2025 Wage offered will be: $19.14 per hour

Hours per week: 37.5 – 40, with some flexibility in hours/days of work
