Status: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Sk’astin Child Care Centre, Chase, BC
Salary: $32/hour (including of the government wage enhancement)

Job Summary:

Reporting to and under the general direction of the Education Director and Daycare Manager, the Early Childhood Educator – Infant Toddler Educator is responsible for providing high-quality care and supporting the developmental needs of children in the infant and toddler program at Sk’astin Child Care Centre.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs all duties in accordance with Neskonlith Indian Band policies and procedures
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the centre’s philosophy
  • Provides supervision and high-quality care for children in the daycare program
  • Leads daily routines including outdoor play, circle time, creative activities, nap time, diapering/toileting, personal hygiene, and field trips
  • Encourages problem-solving and individuality through age-appropriate play and guidance
  • Incorporates Shuswap culture and language into daily programming and materials
  • Maintains respectful and open communication with families, informing them of plans, activities, and any relevant updates
  • Ensures all child files, emergency cards, and health records are up to date
  • Attends promptly to children’s physical needs such as toileting, diapering, nutrition, and sleep
  • Conducts housekeeping duties including disinfecting toys, mats, play equipment, gates, and bedding
  • Performs other related duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate
  • Infant Toddler Educator (ITE) Certificate
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
  • Food Safe Certificate (an asset)
  • Previous experience working with First Nations children and families (an asset)
  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing needs
