Education K-12 Assistance

Education Assistance is open to all Neskonlith Band Members and community status members living on Neskonlith lands who are in grades K-12.  Students attending school full time from September to June. An allowance may be available to subsidize the cost of school fees and school supplies.  To learn more about applying for Education Assistance reference the K-12 Application Form. Employment and Training Services

Neskonlith’s Employment Department goal is to help Neskonlith members and community status members to gain employment.  Priority will be given to Neskonlith member’s who are on Neskonlith’s Income Assistance Program. Our services include assistance with Job Searching, Cover Letter and Resume Development.  We also help with Employment Applications, Essential Skills, Life Skills, connecting with prospective employers, mock interview, and career compass testing.

Support Services offers at NIB include:

  • Individual employment counselling through an appointment to meet your schedule
  • Assist in building your cover letter and resume
  • Telephone, Computer, Internet, Photocopying and faxing
  • Essential skills assessment
  • Employment skills enhancement to help you enter, stay in, and progress in the workplace
  • Education information including college/university calendars, and training information

Youth Worker

Neskonlith Youth Program engages our young people in informal education related activies. Our Youth Worker is focused on empowering our youth and supporting them in all activities as possible.  The Youth Activities vary from hiking, bowling, after-school activities, our Ask Auntie Group, and Youth Field Trips.

Trades Program

Neskonlith Indian Band Education Department has partnered with Tk’emlups te Secwepemc, and Thompson River’s University to create the Building Capacity and Community through Construction (BCCCT) Trades Program.  This program is running for 2 years, started in April 2018. BCCCT Trades Program is running 4 components in this Partnership.

  • Essential Skills Upgrading
  • Construction Craft Worker
  • Carpentry Red Seal Exam Preparation
  • Carpentry/Joinery Foundations Program

To apply for any of the 4 components schedule an appointment to see the BCCCT Program Coordinator.  The Program Coordinator will have all applications and the process to enter into each component. Please reference the attached Document for more Information.
